Who We Are

"Giving Maine Kids A Voice"

The Maine Children's Alliance (MCA) is committed to improving the lives of Maine’s children, youth and families.

We provide nonpartisan leadership to promote and advocate for sound public policies that benefit Maine’s children. We are a respected and reliable source of data and information about the status and well-being of Maine’s children. We effect positive change by fostering coalitions, consensus and improved systems that affect the lives of children in Maine.

MCA is a strong, credible voice for all Maine children.

Background

Founded in 1994, the Maine Children’s Alliance is a nonpartisan, data-focused advocate for public policies that improve the lives of Maine’s children, youth and families.

By collecting and analyzing data on children and their health, economic and educational status, MCA seeks to link research to practice and public policy.

Our nonprofit organization brings diverse groups together in coalitions that support policy initiatives that benefit children, providing oversight in state policy arenas and serving as a resource on children and family policy issues at the local and national levels.

Based in Augusta, MCA is supported by diverse funding sources including grants, membership, corporate donors, events and an endowment fund. MCA membership includes individuals, businesses and organizations whose goal is to support the children's agenda both financially and with advocacy

The Maine Children's Alliance salutes all those who "stick their necks out for kids." That's why we have adopted the giraffe as our symbol, and that's why we give out Giraffe Awards at our annual Champions for Children event honoring community members who have done great work on behalf of Maine kids.

Please join us and support the Maine Children's Alliance today. Your support will help us continue our work to improve the lives of Maine children and their families.
